Fantastic structure—I still have a lot of fashion terminology to learn and at that, I can’t speak too deeply on what is so special about the structure, but I can say that I have always been a fan of volume, flow, and strong angles. It all looks so comfortable but so… crispy. Yes, crispy. At the moment, though, I find it really difficult to imagine myself going somewhere in those clothes besides a club or the office (not the dress of course)—perhaps it’s because the Southwest isn’t a common place to wear such things for kicks. Perhaps I shall change that!

3.1 Phillip Lim
There’s something really vibrant about this collection—bright textures, unexpected features (check out those knee-high not quite slouchy boots with the belted closure at the top!) and the color combo of the spring pastels with gold and sparkles. I want to wear that ALL the time but it just doesn’t seem appropriate (because it’s spring, DUHHHH).

Also—90s, please don’t come back. I really don’t like the excess denim and below the knee skirts just make NORMAL people look short, frumpy and dorky. she’s a lucky 6-footer (if she is Asian like I think she is, she’s got some fortunate genes)
Oscar De La Renta
I have to say, the warm lusciousness of the line reminds me so much of when my mother would go out to my father’s company dinners during the holidays. She had this deep green (the woman loves green… green walls, green van, GREEN LEATHER COUCH) trench coat with a brown suede collar… knee length, says “why yes, I do have a grand masterpiece underneath that does not involve just my birthday suit”. And Sasha looks fantastic in that olive green dress with the puff hat. So in this case, no, I don’t mind the 90s if it brings back positive memories.

Tommy Hilfiger
Delightfully American as usually, but it’s been quite some time that I’ve actually liked the brand’s creations in a while. Last time, it was *gasp* the 90’s that I had any desire to take a mere look. 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, their junior’s baby tees were the IT item on the playground. It was such a treat for my deal-finding-master mother to bring my sister and me the best of the markdown’s at Dillard’s—a red one with a red, white and navy star that said “tommy girl”; a white one with a ring of red, navy and light blue flowers around the sleeves; and a white fitted polo (my first!) with a red and navy lined collar.

Beautiful Chanel Iman. Of course the other women are beautiful with their lovely angular faces, but Chanel is a doll. But that’s basically universally known fact.
I just might say that the difference between my grade school years and TH’s fall line are a partial reflection of my style evolution.
Next entry by tvo will either be an attempt to do one of these looks, or more fashion week commentary! Or maybe one of my sharp-dressed friends. I could go all day, but that’d be (1) one long blog entry or (2) incredibly taxing on my other academic and professional duties. Your commentary, please!
